    Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi delivers UAE’s address at G20 in Brazil

    MENA Newswire News Desk: Representing UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, delivered the UAE’s address at the opening session of the 19th G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The UAE is participating as a guest country at the summit, which convenes leaders from the world’s major economies.

    In his remarks, Sheikh Khaled conveyed greetings from President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to participating leaders, extending best wishes for the success of the summit. He also expressed gratitude to Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva for inviting the UAE to contribute to discussions aimed at addressing critical global challenges.

    Sheikh Khaled commended the launch of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, emphasizing its potential to influence global policies and create sustainable solutions for pressing humanitarian issues. He announced the UAE’s commitment to the initiative, including a $100 million allocation through the UAE Aid Agency to support international efforts to combat hunger and poverty. The Crown Prince reiterated the UAE’s dedication to advancing global partnerships through its engagement with the G20, highlighting the nation’s ongoing contributions to development, peace, and prosperity on both regional and international levels.

    Sheikh Khaled attended the summit alongside an official UAE delegation comprising Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State; Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, Minister of Investment; Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council; Saleh Ahmad Salem Alsuwaidi, UAE Ambassador to Brazil; and Waleed Al Mokarrab Al Muhairi, Deputy Group CEO at Mubadala.

    The 19th G20 Summit, held from 18 to 19 November under the theme Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet, focuses on pressing global issues such as enhancing governance, combating hunger and poverty, addressing climate change, transitioning to clean energy, and promoting comprehensive development across economic, social, and environmental dimensions.

    This marks the UAE’s fifth participation as a guest at the G20 Summit. Previous engagements include summits in India (2023), Indonesia (2022), Saudi Arabia (2020), and France (2011), underscoring the UAE’s active role in shaping global dialogue and fostering international cooperation.
